My father was stationed at the AF Base in the 1980's. We lived at 66 Hall Street. Our time in England was wonderful. As an American child, it was an amazing experience to live in such a wonderful place.

Hi. I am a sohamite born and bred.
I have always been interested in sohams history, in particular is darker side. Unfortunately i moved away some years ago and only come back every few months
I now run a Paranormal research group and i am desperate to find willing locations in soham to investigate. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

does any one know the history of the old postoffice building...... now lloyds tsb?? myself and my family lived in the very top flat of the building from 2000 to 2003 and whilst we lived there we had lots of "strange things happen " ie, hearing footsteps out on the staircase ( even tho we knew we were the only people living in the building at the time) and once when i was alone in the flat i saw what looked liked a monk in a black long gown walk from the hall way to the kitchen and then vanished!!!!! i would love to know anything bout the building as i have since been told that me and my family were not and are not the only people who have seen and heard things. thankyou.

While digging in the garden of Addison House we found some ornate carved stone for window surrounds of a medieval building? - this was burried among tin cans and bricks - any idea where this might have come from

Whats the connection with the following ?.

A tradition in Soham that a "calf's head besmeared with blood was hoisted on a pole".
The Calve's Head Club (secret society)
Oliver Cromwell
The English Civil War
King Charles I
Royalists & the Puritans

Answer:- Addison House in Sand St

Recent research has found a secret that Addison House has held for 300 + years.

If you can add anything to this Story or have any information, documents or family legend we would like to hear from you. We are trying to find out who the Royalists or Puritans were in Soham at the time of the English Civil Wars, and whether Soham was really a Royalist stronghold as tradition has us believe or was it really divided.
Just a surname can help us.
Another story has been told to us that Oliver Cromwells pay master also lived in Soham in a cottage that still stands today, research on this is still ongoing.

You can read more about the secret of Addison House in our history pages on Soham Roots
Thanks Tim & Julie Webb
