Ariel views of Soham in 1935


The first five photo's of the Town were taken in 1935 from the Tower of St Andrews Church.
The image on these photos are not very sharp due to them being very old

Ariel views in Soham in 1935Ariel views in Soham in 1935The left hand photo shows an image of the High Street, the area of empty land towards the front is where the present day Post Office and Coop are situated, this area of land was where the Old Rectory once stood.
Not a lot of traffic is shown in the High Street in those days, the right hand photo is of the same.
Most of the buildings shown still exist today.

The photo on the right shows onother view taken in 1935. Looking towards Fountain Lane. Not many houses here then !.

The photo on the right is of Soham Village College, (Beechurst), as it looked in 1953. The large white house in the foreground is Addison House once the home of Dr Thomas Addison Surgeon of Soham in the late 18th Century.
