These
two photographs are of a float entered into the Hospital Sunday Parade
on Whit Monday in the 1920's. the photo on the left was taken in Clay
Street behind the County Infants School (now the Library).
The photo on the right was taken on route in Pratt St. The float was
entered by the Clay St Slate Club.

The
Photo on the left shows a float entered in The Sunday
Hospital Parade again in the 1920's. This one was entered by the Brook
Street Slate Club. The photo on the right was again in the same parade,
both photo's were taken in Pratt St.

The
Photo on the left was taken at the same time as the photo's above, this
time it was taken on the Recreation Ground, The one on the right is of
the same age but is very interesting as it shows Mr Baileys old Bus
"Gloria", that was used to take People on trips and once a week it
ferried Locals to Ely, again taken in Pratt St.

The
Photo on the left was taken on the Market Place, the building on the
right is The Crown pub, and the building showing behind the bus is The
Fountain, probably taken in the 1950's / 60's.
The photo on the right was taken in 1953, in the Queen Elizabeth's
Coronation Celebrations, believed to be taken on the Recreation Ground.

The
photo on the left shows some Children dressed up in Military Uniforms
and sitting in an old horse drawn cart, it was probably taken at the
end of the World War II Celebrations.
The Photo on the right is again from the Queen Elizabeth's Coronation
Celebrations in held 1953 and the float is entitled " We Proudly Serve
".

The
photo on the left is again from The Queens Coronation Celebrations in
1953, and shows the Carnival Queen and attendants for that year, it was
taken in Churchgate Street.
The photo on the right is from The Carnival Parade of 1963, it has a
title of ? Queen Ely, and was obviously entered from Ely, a lot of
floats were entered from many different surrounding Villages and Towns.
This one was taken in the High St.

These
two photographs are again from 1963 and are two different views of the
one above right, Again taken in the High Street opposite St
Andrews Church.


Two
photo's again from 1963, the one on the left is promoting road safety,
with a moto "accidents like this could be avoided ".
The one on the right appears to be Cowboys & Indians.

These
two Photographs are again from 1963. The one on the left is from
Haddenham and shows Miss Haddenham 1963 and her Attendants.
The
one on the right appears to be The Soham Carnival Queen in 1963 with
her Attendants.

Two
more photo's from 1963, the one on the left appears to be Summer
Holidays, the one on the right is a man dressed as a harassed
Housewife, these were taken in the High St outside Barclays Bank.
This
is again from 1963, and has the dates 1863 - 1963 on the back, the
float is celebrating 100 years of the Red Cross, it was taken in the
High St.
Soham Carnival is still a major event in Soham on Whit Monday, with
many attractions and the all important parade.
