It
is recorded that the Wesleyans built a chapel at the junction of Cock
and Fountain Lanes in 1815, no more information can be found at present
about this building. The present Wesleyan building located in
Churchgate Street was erected in 1841, from the 1850's they got their
preachers from the village tradesmen, the wesleyan's employed a Soham
Blacksmith as a preacher in 1851, at that time its seating capacity was
200, most of the seats being used, with almost 70 Sunday-school
children. It was sold in 1941 for commercial use. It is now used by The
Viva Arts & Community Group.
