In Remembrance of

 Kathleen “Kit” Bailey nee Taylor

1911 - 2007

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you of the passing of my Mother

Kathleen “Kit” Bailey, formerly Taylor, of East Fen Common, Soham.

Kit had reached the great age of 96 and had outlived her Brother and Sister, Roy and Dorrie. They were the children of Kate and Robert Taylor and Grand Children of Robert Fenn Taylor, who started the very first Cinema in Soham in Clay Street and was also reputed to have built the first Bicycle in England. Kit spent a very happy childhood in Soham and had so many close friends in the Village, of which now, only one remains. She is Mrs. Kit Addison nee Leonard, whom is also 96. She lived on the corner of Brook Dam Lane and Bridge Street, but now lives in Lowestoft.

Mum regularly attended St. Andrews Church, where she met her husband Cecil Bailey, a member of the Church Choir and who also ran the Church Sunday School. He was from Downfields and he also founded the “Soham Village Dance Band”, in the 1930’s, which was very popular in Soham and the surrounding villages.

Right up to the end, Mum often spoke about Soham with very great affection. She was a true “Fen Tiger”.

   Richard Bailey.
