On the left shows Berrycroft Lane taken from Pratt Street.
Berrycroft Lane is marked on maps dating 1650,1656 & 1902 but
no name is shown, the lane on all three maps shows it leading into an
open area called Bury Crofts, no houses or buildings are shown on the
1656 map down this Lane.
Berrycroft Lane is accessible via Pratt Street by car, although it is a
dead end at the far end you can continue on by foot. The far end leads
you into West Drive Gardens, a large housing estate built in the
1970's, other footpaths lead you to Julius Martin Lane by the football
club, also Station Road & Mereside. The White cottage in the
background on the photo above is built on an area historically known as
The Slip In, ( an area where boats were launched down onto the Mere),
the cottage itself was known as the Slip Inn Beer House, to the left of
the cottage a little further down you also come to the Primitive
Methodist Chapel.
