Brewhouse lane sohamPhoto of Brewhouse Lane as it is today, at the bottom there is a large private housing estate on the right and the road now leads to the Staploe Medical Centre at the bottom, and off to the left it leads to Eastern Avenue, the photo was taken from Paddock Street.
Brewhouse Lane is shown on a map of 1656 then called Netherall Lane leading to Netherall Closes. Brewhouse Estate was built as a private estate in 1970 on The Netherall Closes, and was probably called Brewhouse Lane after a Brewery which used to stand nearby from the 1880's,  it was a substantial Brewery owned by the Cutlacks and probably earlier by the Mainprice family and later from the 1890's to c.1925 by Treadway and Percy.
Much housing development is happening at its far end, although it is a no through road.
