Spelt Brokstrete c.1270, Brook Street  is also mentioned in the 13th Century as being slightly isolated from the Town. It was connected to Churchgate Street via a Causeway running South East. It is shown on a map of 1656 and was then inhabited by 30 houses running equally on both sides. The other end of Brook Street leads you to Green Hills & Regal Lane industrial area. There have been several new houses built in this Street lately, not many of the old houses exist here anymore, except at the Green Hills end. Brook Street is thought to have been the original main road into Soham from Fordham and is a very ancient Street.
