on a map of 1656 and then known as Wallis Hill. By 1759 it had become
known as Cross Green. It now houses the present day Vicarage, that was
once the home of the Slack Family. It goes back to at least 1374 when a
Symon atte Cros is recorded as having a home here, perhaps Cross Green
gets its name from Symon, or where the Village Cross once
stood.
Cross Green is situated between the ends of Pratt Street, Churchgate
Street, Paddock Street & Kents Lane.
