Paddock Street so called by 1580. It is a curving back lane that runs East of Churchgate Street, it runs from Brook Dam Lane, North to Cross Green. Paddock Street is shown in the same position on a map of 1656. and also in 1645 being spelt Paddocke Streete.



East Fen Common is assessable via Paddock Street including Brook Dam, it is thought that Paddock Street may have been the main route through Soham in Saxon times, with part of the present High Street being enclosed by an Ecclesiastical enclosure.
