photo on the right was taken from the end of Speed Lane looking towards
Pratt Street.
Ten Bell Lane is a short dead end lane that runs from Pratt Street down
to the junction with Speed Lane. It is marked on a map of 1656 but no
name shown, on a map of 1902 it is shown as Swinton Lane later becoming
Ten Bell Lane being named after The Ten Bells Public house that was at
the Pratt Street end of this lane, it is also used as a short cut to
Queensway by foot.
