The Causeway which in the 13th Century and still today connects Brook Street to the Town, leading over the Brook Dam River via a small iron foot bridge that was placed there about 100 years ago. The Causeway Estate was built in 1975 on what used to be called the Town Close as illustrated in 1656, which runs along the side of  The Causeway. This causeway is a very ancient way into Soham from the Fordham direction and was probably the main route into Soham from the South in the Saxon period and most likely before that.
